Cheaper than the cab ride to the airport.
$19 interisland fare from GO
Nutzo, but we%26#39;ll hit that offer...and the dates extend to Feb. 28! Sure hope Hawaiian matches.
Mahalo Bill!
$19 interisland fare from GO
BUMP on these low fares...and perhaps the following will be of a little help to others needing to make reservations:
As of 1 1/2 hours ago, Hawaiian had ';only'; moved to $28 %26amp; Aloha was @ $39(?).
We went with Hawaiian vs go!; personal opinion, but assigned seating, bigger planes/overhead bins, much better on-time performance record and more confidence that they will be around permanently, were the influencing considerations.
Also, perhaps a temporary quirk in Hawaiian%26#39;s reservation system, but OGG (via HNL) to KOA was $15 cheaper booking each leg independently and non-stop between OGG %26amp; KOA, on the days we were flying, was inconvenient and 2x the price.
Don%26#39;t know if delaying purchase will prove beneficial, but the prices received were the lowest we%26#39;ve experienced in years (keep in mind that all of these deals are for an unspecified limited # of seats on each flight).
Lol, if that isn%26#39;t par for the course. Every time I think I get the best deal, within a few days there is always a better one.
Tuesday, fares were erratic. I logged in and found HNL to KOA roundtrip for my dates for $52, unadvertised at the major carriers. I wasn%26#39;t traveling on the dates that were on sale for $29, so I thought it was great. Went to check car rentals and logged back in to find they raised fares. Checked in a few minutes later, and Mesa raised theirs again, and the others followed. About 3 minutes later Mesa dropped to $26 on the fare to the Big Island, and the others went up to $73. I bought the one way fare, and waited to see if I could get my return for the same. I think I ended up with a $35 return, which is still really good.
However, I was tired and made a mistake when I booked the return, I picked an 8:30 a.m., instead of p.m. flight. My Delta flight doesn%26#39;t depart HNL till 11:20 p.m., so I have decided to make the best of it and visit Kaui for the day. My question is, when I check my baggage at KOA, will they deliver to Delta in HNL so I don%26#39;t have to recheck it? Also, can I check in for my Delta flight online at the Outrigger in Kona? I%26#39;m trying to figure out how soon I can depart to Kaui, after landing in Oahu. Any help would be appreciated.
That%26#39;s a good question. You need to call the airline and see it they%26#39;ll check them through. So many new rules due to security. I believe that bags are supposed to follow the passenger, so if you are flying Kaua%26#39;i on the same airline ... the computer might not allow them to go straight to Delta.
Day trip to Kaua%26#39;i! Interesting choice. I would probably have rented a car on Oahu and gone up to the North Shore, just to eliminate waiting in airports.
Even inter-island flights have a 90 minute advance check-in although an hour is more like it. You can web check in on Hawaiian 24 hours prior to flight, so you can get boarding passes printed out the night before. If no computer, you can do Hele On checkin at airport using the machine there and your Hawaiian Miles #, should be able to do your return from Kaua%26#39;i at the same time. This should speed up your interisland airport transit.
Pacific Business News reported, within the past hour, that Aloha had matched the $19 fare. I just visited their website and found nothing lower than $28 (six differing dates/destinations on 2007). The lowest price was available on fewer than 20% of their schedule; otherwise, the range was $49 to $64 and higher.
If buying tickets, PERHAPS (?) a call to their 800 number would be more productive.
Thanks for the help.
The reason for not spending the day on Oahu is I%26#39;ve been there before, and I will be spending 5 days at the beginning of this trip on the island.
Then it makes sense not to drive Oahu! I only saw the KOA ref.
Now I am thinking about going to Oahu if I can find these fares.
I hope if you decided to fly to Oahu you were able to take advantage of the low fares.
My mistake, turned out to work in my favor. Had I booked from Kona to Lihue, I would have taken the same two planes that I%26#39;m booked on, but I would have had to carry my luggage and recheck it each time. Since all of my inter-island flights are with Mesa and they have an agreement with Delta, when I check my luggage in the morning, I won%26#39;t have to pick it up again until I arrive home the following day.
Thanks for the info!! I just booked on Aloha at $19 from LIH/HNL. Great deal!
How long can these incredibly low fares go on? $19 one way must be well below breakeven. Is GO trying to put Aloha and Hawaiian out of business, especially considering that both airlines were recently under bankruption protection?
