FYI-bring your ID

just a tip i remembered while on my vacation last month. i guess a new law has passed that everyone who orders a drink must be carded. on our first day we saw a man in his late 60%26#39;s (no joke) get carded. we had a chuckle, but throughout the trip saw so many people carded and alot of people bummed out because they didn%26#39;t have it and didn%26#39;t get a drink.

wouldn%26#39;t want anyone to miss out on a mai tai ;-)

FYI-bring your ID

Don%26#39;t most people carry wallets with ID in them. How do you pay for said drinks without this? Maybe I live in a too logical world of my own making.

FYI-bring your ID

I know most of the time I count on my husband to carry the cash/credit to pay - I rarely bring ID or wallet when out - easier left home - less chance of losing or forgetting it after to many mai tai:)

Thanks for the ijia!

This happened on your vacation to where ? This is a new law in Maui ??

I saw a woman CLEARLY in her late 30%26#39;s/early 40%26#39;s get turned away from the pool bar at the kaanapali beach hotel last month because she had no id(apart from her wrinkles!), and those abc stores that are everywhere, had signs up saying EVERYONE must have id to buy alcohol although after a laugh and a joke they did serve a guy who looked 70 odd but said they would not next time!!

Same thing vacationjunky said.

Check mauinews.com for stories. Look for Frank Silva of the Liquor Commission. They are hard core, no kidding.

I got turned away from lots of bars (last week), plus the Tedeschi Winery because I didn%26#39;t have ID. I%26#39;m clearly not 21, and my husband always carries the cash/his ID. Bring your ID if you want to drink :)

The LC Commission voted last week to revoke the eight year old law requiring liquor licensees to card everyone. We%26#39;re just waiting for Arakawa to sign it.

kaiwahine, if this is an eight year old law, why are bars and restaurants only now starting to ask EVERYONE for ID? Why did they not do so for the lasy eight years?

There were some places that had been carding everyone, but what spurred most other places into action was a letter that LC sent out every licensee reminding them of the law. The letter went out about a year ago. As a result most places put into action a policy to ask everyone for ID. Some still don%26#39;t do it. And after the wording is revoked some places will likely still do it. For a licensee it is actually a good policy because they are held responsible for the actions of their employees, and not all employees exercise great judgment all the time. By requiring they see everyone%26#39;s ID it keeps them on their toes.
