Hotel Recommendations for Oahu?

We are planning our first trip to Oahu for five nights/6 days in the first week of April 2007 (spring break). This trip includes myself, my wife and 16 year old daughter. We are looking for a reasonable priced place to stay--I%26#39;ve received quotes from Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays for a hotel and airline package ranging (for partial ocean view rooms) from $3,787 at Waikiki Beach Marriott----$4,137 at Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach---$3,776 at the Resortquest Waikiki Beach Hotel---$4,216 at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort. We like a balance of being close to the beach (so we can see the water) yet have a little peace and quiet at night. We%26#39;ve stayed in Maui at the Embassy Resort on Kaanapali and enjoyed that place--kind of spoiled because we had an oceanfront room (upgraded) and were right on the beach. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Hotel Recommendations for Oahu?

I hear good reports on TA about the Waikiki Beach Marriott, Outrigger Waikiki and the Hyatt Regency. I am not a fan of the Resortquest Waikiki Beach Hotel, but this is my personal opinion.

When we travel to Hawaii, we stay at Pacific Beach Hotel. This is also on Kalakaua Ave, right opposite Waikiki Beach. It is located between the Marriott %26amp; Hyatt Regency Hotels. Whilst it is a little older (not renovated yet, but still good) we found the Oceanfront rooms in the Beach Tower exceptional value. They give you unobstructed views of the ocean and beach and when you close the door at night you dont hear the traffic or people on the street at all.

The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable and the hotel is in great location, within walking distance to all shops, restaurants etc.

We have stayed here 3 times in the past 5 years and really like it.

Have a great trip :-)

You say you’re looking for a “reasonably priced place to stay,” so let’s do a little math, here:

I figure air fare would run $450, each; so that’s $1350 for 3 people.

Hotel room should be about $150. Two rooms for 5 nights = $1500.

Car rental for one week about $150.

Total = $3,000.

The lowest price you quoted was close to $3,800, so who is scooping the extra $800?

If you’re looking for a “reasonably priced place to stay,” I suggest you keep looking.

The prices quoted you are in line with the ones on Expedia, especially if you have any kind of a view.

But, you could probably do a lot better with your price if you are willing to stay a block or so from the beach. Many Waikiki hotels offer 5th night free. You can probably get something like Resortquest Waikiki Sunset 1 or 2 bedroom condo for $200 - $250 per night %26amp; get by instead of two hotel rooms.

Of your 4 choices, I would choose Waikiki Beach Marriott or Resortquest Waikiki Beach Hotel simply because of the price.

Hyatt may be a little better than the other two, but it is also across the street from the beach. Closer to center of Waikiki than the other two on the same side of Kalakaua.

Outrigger Waikiki is the only one of the four that is right on the beach. Right in the center of Waikiki. Best location.

Outrigger Reef is also on the beach %26amp; will probably save you some $$.

Waikiki Shore is the only condo on the beach. No pool, but you can use the facilities right next to it at Outrigger Reef if you get an Outrigger room. This is co-managed by Castle.

I have now visited Oahu and the outer islands four times and in the past, have always stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki. However, this time I was on a budget and wanted to put my money towards shopping and sight seeing. So . . . I stayed at the Park Shore Waikiki. If you are interested, you can read my review, which is quite recent - ';Great Location, Great Price';. Good luck and enjoy your stay. Just remember, top dollars does not always mean top accommodation.

Hi Doffer and good luck on your decisions...first lets look at the options #1 sixteen year old daughter...hmmm definetly beach hotel, she is going to want to see everything and hang at the beach and so you don%26#39;t have to worry about being too far away from the action and less worries for saftey etc., #2 alittle piece and quiet at night, If you have a Costco membership they are offering great 5 night packages including Lei greetings, airport transfers, breakfast, $50 hotel shop credits etc. (different hotels offer alittle different things) But right now the Hilton Hawaiian Village is $612.00 per person for a partial ocean with all of the mentioned stuff and than you figure $1350.00 for airfare from Sac on Hawaiian Airlines (come on you got to fly them, it like starts your vacation). If you are AAA you can rent a Mustang Convert. at the Hilton for $72.00 a day = $360.00 for a total package of $3546.00.....Yes the Costco packages are over on 12/31/06 but they always have comp. packages renewing. Have a wonderful vacation and just remember .....have fun and enjoy it%26#39;s Waikiki!!!! Hope this helps!
