What was the cost of your trip?

I%26#39;ve seen a few budget questions lately, so I thought I would ask.

We spend about $3,200 on tickets and a van, $3,500 for the beach house, and budget $180 a day for food. Before you fall over, that%26#39;s for six people.

What do you pay for XX number of days in a hotel? With or without a car?

I%26#39;m just curious. The price is totally worth it :^)

What was the cost of your trip?

Boeing Dad,

I just booked a trip for November (3 nights/four days) Four people.

The total cost of air.hotel was $2,480, the car is going to be an extra $200. We are flying out of SFO to Honolulu and staying at the Outrigger on the Beach.

In December, my family (4 people) went to Maui from San Francisco and the cost for air/hotel (Grand Wailea) was $3,600.

What was the cost of your trip?

The package i got was for $2460.00, 8 days 7 nights this includes Air %26amp; Hotel only.

We will be leaving from San Francisco Intl. and the hotel will be Ohana East with a standard room. I think this was a good deal because there will be 4 of us which came out to $615.00 each person... :)

Shoot. I meant to reply to your post but instead I created a New Topic ';Budget for Oahu';. Ooops.

For us, a family of 5 -air tickets from Tampa via Atlanta-Honolulu $3300. We will be in Hawaii 15 days- partly at Hilton Hawaiian Village- 7 night Island Cruise and then 3 more days in Honolulu. Total for all 5 including food, spending money, excursions like heli ride in Kauai, volcanoe tour etc...comes almost to 15,000. That also includes 2 separate car rentals at 2 days each. So all in all about $3000 per person for 15 days. It took us a LONG LONG LONG time to save that up. But I agree with Boeing Dad totally worth it!

The two of us are leaving Thursday for 2 weeks....

Flying on Delta skysaver miles, $100

5 nights on Waikiki at $136/night

7 nights in a Kauai beachhouse at $900

Rental convertibles approximately $550

So, we%26#39;re about $2,200 for two weeks if we don%26#39;t eat. (We will.)

Will also do 2-hour lomilomi spa for $300 with tip

Sail Hawaii dolphin cruise at $170

Film, developing , sunscreen, Aloha swap meet, etc. $500

That%26#39;s another thousand or so.

Still have to eat, say $1400

Round numbers $4,500 total

The wild card is keeping my wife out of jewelry stores, but since this is our 35th anniversary will probably fail.

I don%26#39;t remember what our trip cost to Oahu, but our last trip this past September to Maui was as follows: American Airlines frequent flyer miles processing fee $100. Thrifty car rental got Sam%26#39;s discount and paid for midsize plus had a coupon from Sam%26#39;s Club for an upgrade to fullsize for 10 days for around $225. Punahoa Beach Apartments, oceanfront studio condo for around $120/day ( I think it was less than that because we got a discount for staying 10 days). Activities: Day 1, Hiked/snorkeled La Perouse Bay $0, day 2, spent the day snorkeling Big Beach, Polo Beach, and tipped the guy $20 for letting us have a cabana with 2 lawn chairs on the beach for the rest of the day, Day 3, took a drive to Makena area and snorkeled Makena Beach then to Wailea Beach snorkeling, $0, Day 4, Fourwinds to Molokini snorkeling trip $145.00 (not worth it!), Day 5, Took our friends out for a sunset dinner at SeaWatch in Wailea (they invited us to go with them on this vacation) $250, Day 6, Drove up to the Blowhole and around to Paia to watch the wind surfers, $0, Day 7, Helicopter tour of West Maui, $160 (definitely worth it), Day 8, Drove and hiked for sunset and stargazing on Haleakala, $0, (our favorite activity), Day 9, Drove to Lahaina for shopping and did dinner cruise on Maui Princess, $168 (definitely not worth it). All breakfasts in condo, lunches fixed in condo and taken with us for picnics, all other dinners in condo. $? Total of $2,168 plus food costs as mentioned.

we did pretty good on our last trip. Cost for 3 of us-Air was free with AA miles, 9 nights in waikiki free because we own a condo, luau was only big ticket item so we had maybe $500 in activities, $250 rental car, food and drinks maybe $1200, what killed us was we did an overnighter to kauai that cost at least $1000 with air room and car and food, I knew it was a bad sign when the burgers at the pool were $15.

RockyTop - a smart man fighteth not with thou wife on thou anniversary!

My husband and I consider ourselves to be budget travelers. We are extremely low-maintenance people who don%26#39;t really enjoy high-end restaurants, hotels, spas, etc. Give us a clean hotel, take-out burgers and a spot on the beach at sunset, and we%26#39;re happy. (We figure that with the money we save, we can go on more trips!) So that said...

For our last trip (in October) of 5 nights on Oahu and 4 on the Big Island, we spent about $2700 total for both of us.

This includes:

- 1 plane ticket to Honolulu (mine was free)

- 2 tickets on Aloha Air to Big Isle and back to Oahu

- 1 car rental on Big Isle for 5 days

- 2 tickets to cocktail Creations show

- 5 nights at Queen Kapiolani, 1 at Inn at Kulaniapia, 1 at Manago Hotel, and 2 at South Point Banyan Tree House

- All meals, bus and taxi fares, souvenirs, surfing lessons, admission fees, basically all spending money

Family of four, 9 days, drove from Idaho to Vegas-

left car at Palace Station and booked room for

return $45. This saved big with the airport parking.

Total $4600.00 including air/lodging, souvenirs, PCC tickets,

Mokulua Kayak Tour, Maitai Catamaran sunset sail.

5 nights at Bellows AFB and 4 nights at Hale Koa.

Ate cheap most of the time. Food wasn%26#39;t the reason

for the trip. Also, rental car with Alamo for 9 days included.

We spent pretty much exactly $3,100 for a family of four for eight days and nights on Oahu EXCLUDING airfare. This included everything for everyone: such as lengthy trip to airport from home, gas, airport parking, a house on Oahu, a rental car, pocket money for the kids, all food (with two teen boys!) souvenirs, entry fees etc. We ate out once a day - splurged a bit sometimes, missed out on nothing. We found that Hawaii fits into our teachers%26#39; budgets. So many wonderful things are free there! Live with/like the locals! Just save your frequent flyer miles and plan ahead.
