airfare in December?

Hey all,

I was just in Kauai in March, and I%26#39;m already ';homesick';. I keep telling my husband that this wouldn%26#39;t be so expensive if we would just move there, and he%26#39;s even had a couple of offers. :) I was looking to travel in December during the kids%26#39; winter break, but airfare is really high. If I wanted to go next month it is about half. Is it normal for the airlines to take advantage of travelers during holiday seasons? Does anyone have suggestions on how to get more reasonable fares?

By the way, I had the opportunity to go to the Virgin Islands this summer. They were pretty, but not even close to Kauai.

after Dec 15 the prices do go up. Supply/demand. They drop again after Jan 10 or so.

You could try priceline but don%26#39;t hold your breath for cheapies at thanksgiving/christmas/spring break.
