We can get a deal for about the same money at all 3 hotels. Which one should we go with and why? Important to us is the beach, nightlife in the area, restaurants, view.
Westin
Marriott Maui Ocean Club
Embassy Kaanapali
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also is parking included in any of these locations?
Which hotel do you recommend?
I cannot compare properties for you...as I%26#39;ve only stayed at the Sheraton and the Maui Kai.
I can compare the locations. The Embassy is up by the Maui Kai and the Westin/Mariott are a bit further south near the Sheraton.
I prefer the location of The Mariott/Westin over the Embassy. The beaches are better a bit further south and if you like to snorkel you are within walking distance to Black Rock at the Sheraton which is nice public beach with GREAT snorkelling.
You mentioned night life and restaurants. The Westin/Mariott are also within walking distance to Whaler%26#39;s Village where there are shops and a few nice restaurants. Lelani%26#39;s and Hula Grill, etc. Walking to and from dinner on a paved path along the beach is nice. If you stay up at the Embassy you will need to drive. It%26#39;%26#39;s only a couple miles...but still, driving would be a must.
I can%26#39;t tell you about parking at any of the resorts.
Someone else can surely help you further. My vote is for the Westin or the Mariott based on location.
Good luck!
Wendy
Which hotel do you recommend?
I%26#39;ve been in Maui 4 times. I just stayed at the Sheraton for a few days and the Embassy for a week last month.
Westin
Marriott Maui Ocean Club
Embassy Kaanapali
I would pick either the Westin or Marriott Maui Ocean Club. The rooms at the Embassy are very nice, but the grounds are run down, and the beach is terrible. The location of the Westin and Marriott is much greater, on a much much better beach (nicest area in Maui) and are close to Whaler%26#39;s village and Lahaina for dinners and all.
I would rank the hotels in the order that you posted them:
1) Westin
2) Marriott
3) Embassy
The Westin is on a great beach and right next door to Whaler%26#39;s Village, which is nice when you want to grab a bite to eat, do a little shopping, go for ice cream, etc. Also, the Westin pool is really huge and spread out. The rooms at the Westin are nice, but nothing too special.
The Marriott is farther down Ka%26#39;anapali beach, but also on a nice part of the beach, but it is farther to walk to Whalers Village. Views about the same as Westin.
Embassy is too run down and farther out than the others--it would be my last choice.
Now all this being said, if you can get the Sheraton for the same price as the others, I would definitely go with that.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I will look into the Sheraton but if not I will go with the Westin.
Mike
I agree with the other posts as far as the rankings, but the comments about the Embassy are a little outdated. The resort is undergoing renovations of all of the suites, and from what I understand they are supposed to be complete by the end of the year.
The thing about the beach by the Embassy is that it tend to be less crowded than the others.
They are changing their name, too. It%26#39;s going to be Kaanapali Beach Club, now.
