Any information on the new Embassy Suites and the beachwalk?

Hi!

Does anybody have any information about the new Embassy Suites and the Waikiki Beachwalk? We are visiting President%26#39;s week in February and I made a reservation there. From the website I saw that they are only opening the hotel on February 6 - ten days before our arrival. I wonder if they will finish on time! Thanks in advance.

last times I heard it was january for embassy suites and november for the beachwalk retail so it sounds like the schedule is already slipping a little. I am sure they will make a huge push to be open by pro bowl week that is the week before you arrive. The thing to remember is that if it is open it will not be completly done, so on one hand you get to one of the first guests and you can report back to us on how you like it, but just don%26#39;t let the little unfinished things and new staff get to you. We have seen this same type of thing in the vegas openings, takes a few months to get everything running smoothly. The beachwalk is the first major waikiki construction in 25 years so the opening will be very exciting.

I don%26#39;t know if I would take a chance reserving a hotel that is supposed to open only a week or so before I get there.

Even if it opens on time, there will still be some constuction in the area.

There are far too many good hotels or condos in Waikiki to take a chance on Embassy Suites.

I%26#39;ve made a ressie for the week after they open- we like Embassy Suites- usually the rooms are spacious and breakfast s are nice. I hope it opens on time!! If not, I would assume they would offer one of the doubletrees in the area...

Is there a website for the beachwalk and what it has to offer?

Also, I would be interested in hearing about the other hotels in the area that offer a spacious room and good breakfast for the same price range as the Embassy Suites. Thanks!

Thanks Dusty, I am concerned about all the construction. As I was looking around, I noticed that a ';Proposed Saratoga'; Tower may be built in front of the Embassy Suites. I think I will give the hotel a call, as I don%26#39;t want to be sitting on top of a hammer at 7 in the morning.

Other hotel suggestions would be appreciated too, in case I%26#39;m put in the position of switching.

Thanks again!

I wouldn%26#39;t worry about jack hammers at 7am. Most of the construction work will be done 8-5 when most people are out of their rooms anyway.

But, with construction comes delivery trucks that are noisy.

Actually, delivery trucks, garbage trucks, tour buses, street cleaners, etc., are all noisy throughout Waikiki. They start real early.

Here%26#39;s a link that has most Waikiki hotels %26amp; condos. Map is a few years old %26amp; some hotels have changed names.

Thanks again, good info and map! I%26#39;m still a little apprehensive about staying in downtown Waikiki. We do like bigger cities, though. Hopefully the construction won%26#39;t be too overwhelming.

Hi to all that responded to my question and thanks for the info. The website for the Waikiki Beachwalk was so interesting! I have an update - I just looked on the Embassy Suites website and they changed their opening date to January 7 from February 7th. Maybe they are ahead - or back on schedule! I am going to keep my booking at Embassy for now. The rate of $299/night for 5 people that includes full breakfast and a cocktail hour is a good one. I will continue to monitor the situation and decide if will have to change to another hotel. We stayed at a suite in the RH last year and it was lovely. Does the ES have direct access to the beach? thanks.
