My husband and i and my parents are doing the 4 islnad hopper cruise and we will be in Maui for 2 days. What should we do? where should we rent the cars? We love snorkeling and visit some nice beaches. thanks
only have 2 days in maui, what should i do?
I would rent the car at the Kahului airport where you fly into. All of the major companies are there and sounds like they have good pricing right now?
Snorkeling I would consider a trip to Molokini or try Black Rock and Kaanapali beach is beautiful there(in front of the Sheraton). Other beaches are big beach, wailea.
as far as things to do? I will list some of the places we enjoy in no order..Iao Needle,Olivine Pools,Nakemale, Haleakala for sunrise, Blowhole,shopping/dinner on Front St in Lahaina.
Hana is nice but a full day and would use 1/2 of your time. Haleakala for sunrise is beautfiful but like Hana is a large commitment of time?

Sounds like you won%26#39;t be arriving at the airport. Try all the rental car companies for dates they have harbor pick-ups. Alamo picks up at both Lahaina and Kahului harbors via shuttle.
Two days on Maui? Is the boat docking in Lahaina or in Kahului? This is what I would do, (depending on what time of day of course) if it%26#39;s early, head to the West side, rent some snorkel gear at a local shop, head out to airport beach, Kaanapali beach, snorkel over near Black Rock, lots of fish there. Then after that, head over to Lahaina, grab some lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise, ask for a table with a view or cross the street over to Kahuna Kabobs and have lunch under the umbrella of a huge banyan tree. Explore Front Street, go over to the huge banyan tree in front of the visitor center, they have great photos of the old days, Lahaina is rich in history. After that, head over to the beaches along the highway, great surf spot at Launiapoko just a couple of miles outside of Lahaina, stop at Olowalu, the beaches are great for snorkeling. If your boat is docked in Kahului, head back via Wailuku way, that way you can stop by Iao Valley on your way back to the boat. It%26#39;s just a few miles from the harbor. Catch dinner at Wei Wei Noodle House or Saeng%26#39;s in Wailuku or Manana Garage in Kahului or drive to the North Shore, about a half hour drive and snorkel Ho%26#39;okipa beaches just stop and marvel at the turqoise waters and the world class surfers and windsurfers. They look like bugs with huge wings skipping on the waves. Have dinner at Mama%26#39;s Fish House-you%26#39;ll need a reservation. If it is still early (?) explore Paia shops and galleries.
Day two - head out to South Kihei, hit all the beaches there starting at Kamaole 1 through 3, keep going South, plenty of great beaches, Keawakapu, Polo, keep going South to Makena, all great snorkeling spots along the way. If you just feel like driving, keep going South until the road ends, you%26#39;ll pass lava fields along the way, incredible views, you might even see some spinner dolphins at La Perouse. Still feel like driving? Head back towards Kahului, stop by the Sugar Cane museum and then keep driving Upcountry to Kula. Stay on the Kula Hwy to Keokea, you will pass Grandma%26#39;s Coffee House (stop in for a cup of coffee or their specials), (Oprah%26#39;s place is just a few miles up the way) you%26#39;ll see a sign for Ulupalakula 4 miles. Go there! Stop off at the winery and don%26#39;t miss the General Store across the street, it is beautiful drive. Head back down to Kula, go to Makawao on the way down, more shops, galleries, as you head back to the highway to get back to Kahului, stop off at the Hui Noeau art center. As you head back down the road, you%26#39;ll end up in Paia again. You will have sweeping views of pineapple and sugar cane fields, awesome.
If you dock in Kahului, do West Maui first...you never know when the road gets blocked, for hours and hours. You wouldn%26#39;t want to get stuck in traffic on your last day.
Molokini is another option, you can take a morning snorkel tour, definitely worth it as you will usually be back by noon.
Have fun, you can always rest on the ship!
don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s not worth going up on haleakala if you don%26#39;t do it at sunrise. it%26#39;s incredible any time of day. yes, it%26#39;s a long drive but the scenery is pretty spectacular all along the way %26amp; you may see silverswords %26amp; nenes.
