renting in oahu

After a long search for a vacation rental away from the hustle and bustle of waikiki for my family of 4 (children ages 4 and 6), I finally found a cute cottage in kailua. I thought my search was over and I was pleased....until I discovered the tripadvisor website where I first heard about the illegal rentals :( I called and asked about it and they very honestly said they did not have the proper license to rent on a short term basis. We decided not to take a chance with this rental and my search is on. One of the few available and legal rentals that I found was one in punaluu, a place called the hawaiin sunrise beach cottage located right next to pat%26#39;s at punaluu condos. Can anyone give me info od the place? Is it a fairly safe area? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I googled the cottage and it looks so cute, really nice. I didn%26#39;t come up with any web reviews though. You might ask the owners if they have any web reviews or testimonials. Most owners keep track of that stuff. Hopefully someone here may know more ... but thought I%26#39;d offer that as no one has answered you yet.

sorry to reply again, but I was thinking if you were to post a more specific heading for your question, like if you mention punaluu in the heading, instead of just ';renting in oahu'; -- then people who know punaluu are more likely to click on your post. Best of luck.

As I said, the place looks darling inside with great views, I personally would want a sense of how the motel/condo type structure that seems to be right there impacts the place, if at all.

Here%26#39;s a webpage on Punaluu, hosted by the tourist industry.

Because the write-up emphasizes the ';local'; flavor, you may want to ask people here whether you will feel welcome or unwelcome there as a visitor.

Thank you Kamaainak for your advice. I will start a new post and include ';punaluu';.

My ex -sister in law rented a beach house in Punaluu. They really liked it there away from everything. The house was completely furnished. Even had lots of cd%26#39;s, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, a grill. Not much of a beach, but it was semi-private. It is a safe area.

It%26#39;s close to PCC %26amp; North Shore. Not too far from Kaneohe/Kailua area.

Oahu is not that big. From Punaluu, you are about 45-50 minutes from Waikiki.

Go for it.

My wife and I are staying at the Sunrise Beach Cottage in Punaluu in November. I will make sure I post a review along with pictures upon our return
