What do you all think about the Continental Surf Hotel?

I read that this is a sh*tty hotel. I reserved it because it%26#39;s cheap and I%26#39;m just a blue color guy of guy. I may change it if it%26#39;s really that bad after the 1st night. I will be there by myself and my first time in HI. I personally prefer to spend the money on something else. What do you guys think? Anyone has any comment/suggestion/recommendation?

Well...I would say run far away and that you%26#39;d be much better off at someplace like the Maile Sky Court or Royal Grove which are also cheap but clean and not falling apart. But, Aqua hotels took it over in February/March - they are renovating, so it might be in the midst of improvements now and they might have some rooms already done, I know that is the case with the Aloha Surf, which Aqua took over at the same time. Hard to say though since there are no reviews for it on TripAdvisor since right when it was taken over.

I did call Royal Grove, but the lady there told me that Royal Grove is all booked until the end of August. Bump!!! Can anyone tell me specifically what made people stay away from Continental Surf? I don%26#39;t mind some stuffs other people have complained about like small beds (am a small guy), parking garage (not renting car), dirty microwave (won%26#39;t be using because I%26#39;ll eat out), etc. Hopefully, like you said, Aqua took over and has improved some of the rooms. Will see what happen. Anyway, I plan to switch to different hotel after one night if the now Aqua Continental is still as bad as it used to be.

hey OneGuy

I checked it out previewed it (said no to it )

because the rooms are tiny

not small via the mainlander%26#39;s need for SPACE small

but truly small puney

and there is an element of ladies of the evening there

it seemed :-(

Along with that Aqua Company operations are not consistent.

continental surf is depressing. ok it%26#39;s cheap, but for a few bucks more you can do much better. i live in hawaii and when i go to honolulu i just need a place to sleep, but i can imagine somebody spending a holiday in hawaii and get this tiny depressing room. ouch! even the elevators were bare-bones. i stayed there 2 years ago, perhaps by now they fixed some things? i dunno!

Hey guys. I finally went to HI last month and ended up staying at the Aqua Continental (formerly Continental Surf) hotel for 7 days. I have to say it%26#39;s not bad at all. Before I went there, I had all those negative perception based on the negative reviews I%26#39;ve read here. After I checked in, I was pleasantly surprised. The new management has definitely improved it. Don%26#39;t get me wrong. The Continental hotel is not even a 2-star hotel by any mean, but it%26#39;s definite worthed to stay for only $60/night in the middle of the peak season. Anyway, I wrote an honest review for it under TripAdvisor to give people some recent feedback.
