I am planing a trip to Maui for Christmas/New Year with my boyfriend and we have hard time finding a decent priced hotel. Everything we%26#39;ve offered so far is $300 and up per night. I know that it%26#39;s a peak season, but maybe one of the locals can help and recommend a less expensive and maybe less known hotel with decent proximity to the beach and town. Any help will be appreciated!

If you could have an ';early Christmas';, you%26#39;d save a lot. Value Season goes up to December 20 -- at least at our area in South Maui.
Although really nice condos are usually booked six months to a year in advance, you might still find one. Have you looked at vrbo.com?

I checked the entertainment rates for 12/22/06-01/01/07 and a 1bdrm was $240 + tax(11.4%) at the Mahana. I do not know if they have room(s) available though. That week was considered ';high season';.

Did you want a hotel??? If so, check out the Maui Coast Hotel which is located in south Kihei. It is across from the Kamole One beach park.
