Traffic during the Ironman

My husband and I will also be at the BI from the 17th through the 24th.

My husband needs to be there for business and the only day he ends early (at 1pm) is on the 21st . We were planning on leaving the Hilton Wiakoloa at around 1:00pm for a 4:30pm reservation on a Helicopter tour out of Hilo. We would need to arrive at the Hilo airport by 3:45pm.

Do you think it will be possible to do?

Traffic during the Ironman

You certainly should be OK. The highway will not be closed and you can fairly easily drive to the Waikoloa Junction, drive up to the upper road and you are on your way to Hilo. Don%26#39;t go North towards Kawaihae.
