Best Kihei condo

Hi! I%26#39;m looking for the best condo in the Kihei area. We have a child so our #1 priority is a nice beach that%26#39;s safe for swimming. We also would like an oceanfront unit, as close to the beach as possible, no crossing the street, etc. Price is our next priority. Right now, I%26#39;m looking at condos on Sugar beach and Kamaole Nalu on Kamaole beaches. Does anyone know anything about any of these condos?

Best Kihei condo

Have you looked at Hale Pau Hana or Kihei Surfside or Mana Kai?

Nalu is in a nice location too, but I%26#39;ve never been in one of its units. Sugar Beach is in an area that can feel windy and damp -- beach OK for walking but not so nice for swimming.

You might like Wailea Ekahi too.

Best Kihei condo

We stayed at Kihei Kai on Sugar Beach. We stayed in unit 10. it%26#39;s not completely oceanfront, but has view from both the bedroom and balcony (unit 1 and 9 have direct veiw). It is an oceanfront condo complex, with beach step away from it%26#39;s backyard bbq area. It%26#39;s fairly reasonably price. We pay less than $100 per day! Couldn%26#39;t ask for a better place to stay.

Hope this helps!

Aloha!

Mana Kai Maui was just renovated and looks very nice. The beach is nice there, too! It is a perfect family retreat.

We just stayed a week at Hale Pau Hana in August, and I cannot say enough good things about it. I think anyone would love it. All units are oceanfront. Our unit, 302, was completely redone. The view is fabulous and the beach is great for swimming. We also saw a lot of snorkeling out front of the condo. There were several families there. It has two big grills for cooking. Our favorite part of our trip was getting back to Hale Pau Hana every afternoon and lying out on the lawn with our drinks, watching the sunset. Check it out.

Mana Kai is a great choice to fit your description. Nice beach out front, lots of room and great swimming %26amp; snorkel, stays fairly shallow so good for the kids. The properties near the Kamaole beach(s) are typically across the street, so becareful on those selctions

Another vote for Kihei Surfside. If you see the main picture here, greathawaiivacations.com/PropertyHtmls/鈥?/a> Surfside is the curved building. All units face the ocean and west Maui. If you cut across the parking lot in the back of the building, its a stones throw away to a really nice beach (upper right hand corner of the picture) . From the beach you can snorkel back to in front of Kihei; as you can see, its a nice rocky shoreline.

I would say that the Hale Pau Hana is the best overall. However, be aware that they are currently tearing up the whole front of the property along Kihei Road. It%26#39;s been going on for about 2 weeks now. At first we thought that they were maybe just replacing the parking lot but now there is a huge crane right in the center of the front entrance digging to China, so I don%26#39;t know. Best call up and ask management what%26#39;s up.

Mana Kai is probably number 2 followed closely by the Kihei Surfside. Then the Royal Mauian, the Kama%26#39;ole Nalu and the Hale Hui Kai. These last 3 can have some pretty dated units, so do your homework whether going through an agency or directly with an owner through a ';By Owner'; site like www.VRBO.com.

Also know that just because a complex tends to sport a fair number of worn out condos does not mean that there will not be some absolutely gorgeous ones in there too. In these condo complexes, each unit is individually owned, so anything goes.

Thanks for all the ideas. Are there any other people who have stayed along Sugar Beach? I%26#39;m mainly concerned because ChiSue says it%26#39;s not too good for swimming. Our main objective is to be right on the beach so our daughter can play %26amp; swim easily without walking a long way or getting in a car.

The prices at the other beaches are a little out of our price range but we are concerned about the swimming at Sugar beach.

That is correct, rates are much more reasonable for beachfront condos in north and central Kihei. The primary reason being that the beaches are no good for swimming. The Sugar Beach Resort spends good money on kelp cleaning to keep it%26#39;s stretch much better than most but no matter what they do it will never be a Kama%26#39;ole Beach. Remember, you only get what you pay for, if you are lucky that is. ;)

The water is not as crystal clear and inviting at Sugar Beach as is it is further south in Kihei. But the waves are actually more gentle so it would be fine for a kid to splash around, play in the sand, etc. How old is your keiki?
