Hello Everyone!
I am going to be in Waikiki Oct 6-9 and have narrowed my choice of hotels down to the Waikiki beach hotel. I was wondering if any of you can recomend if i should book the junior suite or get the ocean front room?
Also, any other recomendations for a beach front hotel would be appreciated. I was also looking at the pacific beach, but it look a little dated. I don%26#39;t know it is all a little confusiing. What is all this i read about construction?
We want something clean and with nice views and comfortable accomodations. We will be coming from our 7 night stay in Maui and completing the rest of our trip in Oahu. The main purpose is to sight see, shop, eat and nightlife.
Thanks!
ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Hotel
We will be there Oct 11-16 staying at the Outriger Waikiki Hotel on the Beach, after reading and reading posts, we choose this resort, I wanted actual on the beach type of place. I have a post asking some questions about this resort but no one has answered yet. We choose an oceanfront room, decided since it is our first time I wanted a good room category. Sorry I can%26#39;t answer your question about room category at your resort, but I have learned through trial and error to pick what I really want and hope it turns out that way! Aloha

Sorry Im not familiar with Waikiki Beach Hotel, but I note your semi-interest in Pacific Beach Hotel.
We stay here every time we visit Hawaii, during the past 6 years our family have stayed at PBH 4 times. We always book the Beach Tower Oceanfront Rooms.
You are correct, it is starting to date a little and probably could use a reno/facelift (seeing as a lot of other Hotels in Waikiki are having them). However, the rooms are good sized, clean and comfortable. The Hotel is in a very good location for walking to shops, restaurants, IMP and transport. While I am not familiar with the $$$ rates for Waikiki Beach Hotel oceanfront rooms or juhior suites, the PBH oceanfront rooms give a good $$ rate for unobstructed views of the ocean.
As for the construction, there are a few projects happening in Waikiki. The Beachwalk project, which effects Saratoga Ave %26amp; Lewers St and also renovations to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Centre on Kalakaua Ave.
Have a great trip !
Resortquest Waikiki Beach Hotel is nice.
Tiki%26#39;s Grill %26amp; Bar is there, a really nice place.
Pacific Beach Hotel is also nice. A little more centrally located in Waikiki.
Both hotels are across the street from the beach, but in an area where there are no hotels on the beach side of the road.
No construction close to either place that I know of.
Most of the construction is on Beachwalk/Lewers area near Outrigger Reef.
Lots to do on Oahu:

We%26#39;ll be staying at resortquest waikiki beach in a few weeks. Several of our friends have stayed there in the past and recommended it. They especially liked the daily breakfast (included) served poolside, and the location Their only complaint was that the rooms were too small. We went with the Junior suite which looks very roomy.....
Thanks for everyone for your info. I think i am going to go with the resortquest hotel. I hope this will be a good choice. We can%26#39;t wait for our trip.

My bf booked the resortquest waikiki beach hotel also - i think we are making the right choice. I was deciding on outrigger reef on the beach (a coworker stayed there. she said the rooms were AVERAGE). But i didn%26#39;t want to deal w/the construction. Resortquest is further away from the noise and you get the complimentary breakfast. Plus it%26#39;s closer to diamondhead.
I%26#39;m happy with our decision :)

we stayed at this hotel in july. It was a nice, clean hotel and very convenient. It is across the street from the hotel-you literally just walk out the door and cross the street. it is on the end of the beach towards diamond head which wasn%26#39;t as congested as the other end. after walking around we were happy to go back to our less crowded end of the beach. this was our first trip to waikiki and we were happy. we did ask for a partial ocean view and we were on a high floor-can%26#39;t remember but it was one of the floors that was just renovated so everything was brand new-beds, pillows furniture etc. i don%26#39;t think i would have been happy in the rooms that had%26#39;t yet been renovated. i think they were suppose to be finished be september but just ask when you get there. I won%26#39;t lie-these rooms were small. my husband, I and our teenage son were a little cramped but for just two people it would have been fine.
all the people at the hotel are extremely nice. there is a wolfgang puck express pizza place, coldstone ice cream, lulus bar and grill and the tiki room which looks out onto the beach. another nice thing about this hotel is the breakfast on the beach. you will receive a insulated bag for each of you in your room. you bring it down to the pool area each day between 7 - 9 am and you cn fill it with all sorts of breakfast items-yogurt, fruit, cereal, pastries, burittos. it varies everyday. we would take a couple of extra things and store in the fridge in the room for an afternoon snack.
have a great time and enjoy. we stayed here after 7 nights on kaiui and 7 nights in kona. it was incredible.
Do they let you keep the bag as a souvenier? Just wondering as we%26#39;re headed to Maui after Oahu, so it would be nice to have it for there.
yes-you get to keep the bag. it really comes in handy for the beach.
