Breakfast orientation meetings

Do these things still exist? I remember on our previous trips to Waikiki being woken up the morning after our arrival at around 6.30am by a call from Maui Divers inviting/pressuring us into a free breakfast orientation meeting. If this still happens I will tell the hotel reception that I do not want any calls.

On my trip last year, I was scheduled to go to one of these breakfast orientation meetings also, even though I didn%26#39;t know about it until about a week before I left for Hawaii. I didn%26#39;t bother going, I was up and gone before the orientation was even taking place. What I have heard and read is that they are mainly a free breakfast where they try and get you to buy either their activities or timeshares. Waste of time is the way I see it. I am not in Hawaii to listen to people trying to sell me something.

Yes you are quite right they are a waste of time we went to one years ago and suffered the rubbery scrambled eggs and the high pressure sales techniques, that%26#39;s why I want to avoid being woken up at some ridiculous hour by these people.

I am going in 2 weeks through Pleasant Holidays, and I have vouchers for these breakfast orientations on Oahu and Maui. Anyone done the ones through Pleasant Holidays? I wonder what the ';fabulous door prizes'; are.

To get an idea of just how fabulous these door prizes are, try selling your vouchers!

Went three years ago through Pleasant Holidays if you are planning on doing any tours I would price them ahead of time if not skip it.

I have to say I am sorry these meeting still exist I remember the one I went to - a room full of people happy to be in Hawaii and being pressured into buying all kinds of over priced trips and then being dragged to Maui Divers Outlet and pressured into buying jewellery. We realised what was happening and made our escape straight after the breakfast just before they shut the doors to the room to keep everyone in. Others staying at the same hotel were not dropped of back at the hotel until mid afternoon. Another time we stayed in Waikiki we were woken up at 6.30am by a phone call from Maui Divers trying to persuade us to attend one of these meetings in the end I had to be rude to get rid of the caller. This time I will tell the hotel front desk that I don%26#39;t want any phone calls the morning after our arrival.

On our 1st trip to Oahu we went to a breakfast orientation and wasted over half of our only full day there. Since then we always tell people if there is a breakfast orientation, don%26#39;t go! You can get great info from the airport or your hotel.

Thanks for the warning. We are leaving in one week and I thought this Breakfast Orientation was mandatory. I would not want to waste precious vacation time on some high pressure salesman.
