March in Big Island and Kauai

Hi,

My wife and I will be in Hawaii in March 2007 for a 2 weeks vacation.

Our plan is to spend one week in Big Island and 1 week in Kauai.

My question for you experts is: is March considered high season? We%26#39;ll be traveling from Seattle, WA and so far the best air fare I found is ~$600 with NWA. If March is high season would you consider $600 a decent rate? Or would you advise to wait and see if better deals come up?

Thanks,

I think ';high season'; is debatable... but you%26#39;re coming to two islands that receive the least amount of traffic of the big 4. April and October are the busiest on the BI (plus one or two weeks in December). Kauai has about the same number of visitors year round, but it can fluctuate oddly at times. I%26#39;m only there in the summer and fall for the most part.

That said, I would push my trip later into the spring for one main reason, weather. This past March there was a lot (A LOT) of rain. It%26#39;s not always the case, but the way winters have been lately, it wouldn%26#39;t hurt (if you can) to book later in the spring. That%26#39;s just my personal opinion.

Unfortunately my wife has sort of use-it-or-loose-it time off and we need to use it before the end of March.

Anyone has a clue about what an average air fare would be for that period of the year?

Thanks,
