Castle Island Colony Good or Bad

Haven%26#39;t read or heard anything horribly bad about the place, seems clean and plain (not luxurious). You%26#39;ll be fine so long as you don%26#39;t expect a resort. You have a 10-15 minute walk to the beach, however, so you won%26#39;t be going back and forth from the room to the beach very much. If you are planning lots of non-Waikiki-beach activities (Haunama Bay, Arizona Memorial, Polynesian Cultural Center, North Shore, Kailua, etc), you won%26#39;t care much about the distance to the beach.

My wife and I stayed there for two nights during our quick stop on Oahu before heading to the Big Island. It%26#39;s nothing special, but depending on what you%26#39;re looking for it could be just fine.

It%26#39;s a budget hotel, make no mistake about it. The bed wasn%26#39;t that comfortable and I wouldn%26#39;t spend time laying around the pool, but it you%26#39;re just using it as a place to lay your head it%26#39;s just fine.

We were upgraded to a diamond head view on an upper floor and it was a magnificent view. Parking can be a pain if you get back late at night as the garage is small, and you share the building with long term residents. I found as long as you are courteous of them and stay out of their way, they are very friendly.

I stayed there 2 years ago- I had a deluxe kitchenette on a high floor-great views of the ocean and the canal and mountains... my room was clean - not fancy at all but very tolerable, bathroom was kind of small, no problems with rodents, bugs or maid service-the a/c leaked a bit but did it%26#39;s job. The lanai does make the time in the room worthwhile as it is very large and comfortable.
