Photo processing

My trip is in only 15 days (Hooray for me!) I was just wondering if there%26#39;s a ';quickie mat'; that anyone has used for there photos in the Waikiki area. I love to scrapbook my trips and sometimes don%26#39;t get quite the shot I was hoping for. I thought it might be nice to preview my pictures before I get all the way home in case something needs to be taken again.

Tropigirl, I don%26#39;t know if you are staying at the Outrigger Reef or not, but they have a photo developping shop that does one hour and next day service. So does Outrigger Waikiki I believe. I used the Reef%26#39;s just about everyday last year and will probably use it a lot this year also. If you are at the Reef, just go down the main lobby area towards the Shorebird Restaurant and it will be on the right side.

Hi tropigirl (and others having interest),

As an alternative to the use of photomarts, you might want to consider a portable printer. We%26#39;ve had an HP 375 for a couple of years and love the convenience %26amp; print quality. Just bought another for one of our kids at buy.com for $83 total %26amp; Staples sells 100 sheet/ ink cartridge kits for 27 cents per print. The little thing weights just over 2 lbs and is only 4 1/2'; high X 7 3/4'; wide. It accepts all the memory cards, has blow-up + editing features and easier to use than the typical do-it-yourself kiosk. We typically have breakfast on the Lanai and enjoy printing photos from the previous day; often using as postcards.

It was recently reviewd by Consumers Reports %26amp; received the top ranking. There is an in-depth review at Steve%26#39;s Digicams: steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/hp375.html

Hope you have a great vacation!

Parrothd, i know exactly where the place is that you%26#39;re talking about, just hadn%26#39;t used them before so, was unsure of their print quality...if you used them every day on your last vacation, then I%26#39;m going to take that as a good sign.

there is also a photo shop right next to the little waikiki police station on the beach. I had a roll of film developed and one of my memory cards transferred to a CD - the prints were very good.

Tropigirl, I haven%26#39;t used them for digital photos, but last year I took 8 rolls of film and had them all developed there. Most of the pics turned out really good (except some of my underwater pics, but that is more me still trying to learn how to shoot underwater pics). Everyone who has seen my pictures loved them so I give the photo shop a thumbs up for doing a good job. This year I am still trying to decide if I am going to take both my digital camera and my 35mm camera. I can get tons of pics on my memory cards, but I still love my 35mm film and cameras.

Here%26#39;s a good tip for Sams Club (above Walmart - same center) if you have all of your images on one card, and only print one or two - you get a full set of preview sheets with the photo numbers on them for free. If you get the CD for $2, they%26#39;ll burn all of your photos on there even though you only printed a few of them.

We made postcards on our second day with a group shot. Just gluestick/place the photo inside of a card and mail the envelope.

aloha... don%26#39;t use ritz camera shops.. the colors were awful, you would think a local photo firm could tell that the ocean colors weren%26#39;t quite right.... noooo.. I had better results developing the film at home... some 2700 miles away!.. and they got the colors of the Pacific Ocean (off Waikiki) right!!
