Outrigger Maui Eldorado?

I have heard a number of things, excellent and not so great, about the Maui Eldorado. Just booked reservations through American Airlines (I was assured that having AA as an intermidiary means the Outrigger cannot kick us to another hotel if overbooked, like some people said in their reviews) and got a really reasonable package deal with rental car, hotel, and airfare. I was wondering if anyone has stayed in a studio condo at the Eldorado... people always rave about the one and two bedrooms but haven%26#39;t heard much about studio accomodations. Trying to figure out if it%26#39;s worth it to pay more for more space, although there are only two of us, and I don%26#39;t think we%26#39;ll need it. If anyone has candid photos of the Eldorado rooms that would help too.

We stayed in unit K211 last year (a studio) and had a great time. Only two of us, so no privacy issues, parking was free at that time, but has gone to 5$ a day now. Cabana was GREAT! Main desk people were really aloof, but other than that, no problems. Humungous pool, not alot of landscaping since it%26#39;s on top of the parking garage, put sitting in a heated pool at night is really great.

Rexster, did you buy groceries and if so where?

The Eldorado is right between Lahaina and Honokowai. There%26#39;s a Star market just off the main highway in Honokowai, and there%26#39;s a Safeway just north of Lahaina at the Cannery Mall. Foodland is in Lahaina, and there%26#39;s another Foodland in Napili. When we were there the Safeway had SERIOUS problems with its freezers and we only went there once or twice. We never loaded up on anything, since we were so closed to everything. If we needed anything, I just hopped in the car and got it. Or we would stop on the way back to the condo for a dinner meal in the afternoon.

We were there for 3 weeks, and we did about 3/4 of our meals in the condo; the lanai we had was very good sized, and we did a number of our meals out there. Nothing like having breakfast on your lanai and watching the whales just off shore.

What time of year did you go that you were able to see whales from the Lanai? We will be there for Thanksgiving.

Aloha

Thanksgiving is early for whales to start showing up, you%26#39;ll be lucky to see one. They really start showing up around late Dec/early January through March. We%26#39;ve been to Maui over the years during Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Year%26#39;s; almost every month of the year except the true summer months since 1990.

well, i%26#39;ll keep my fingers crossed that we see that one. =)
