Cheap Waikiki Hotels

Hi, We are three aussie girls looking at spending a week in Hawaii (Waikiki) in March. On a budget and looking at good cheap property recommendations!

We have been looking at the Pacific Beach hotel, Sheraton Princess Kaiulani or the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber. None of these seem to have nice pool areas though!!

Any thoughts/suggestions??

Cheap Waikiki Hotels

Try the Aloha Surf Hotel in Waikiki. It is a decent hotel with a smaller, but nice pool. THe entire hotel was revamped several years ago. I would stay there again. Aloha, Banana Joe

I%26#39;ve only walked by the pool at Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. It seemed nice to me.

Only 1/2 block from the beach.

Hi aussiegirl3,

Alot of hotels in Hawaii do not have pools unless you are prepared to pay big $$ for resort type hotels like Sheraton, Hilton Hawaiian Village, Halekulani, so keep this in mind if you are wanting a hotel with a nice pool.

The hotels that do have pools are pretty standard pools. I dont know how important the pool is to you %26amp; your friends, but the beach in Waikiki is absolutely beautiful and much nicer than some of the pools at hotels.

I will say that we have stayed at Pacific Beach Hotel 3 times over the past 5 years and love it, so much so we are back there again next May for 4th time. It is right opposite Waikiki Beach on Kalakaua Ave with walking distance to International Marketplace, shops and restaruants. There are 2 towers to PBH, being Oceanarium Tower (about 40 floors) and the Beach Tower (about 17 floors). We love the Beach Tower oceanfront rooms as they have unobstructed views across the beach !!!

PBH does have a pretty standard pool, it also has coin laundry and Rainforest Spa %26amp; Massage Centre on the same level as the pool area. On the ground floor is ABC Store (not like our ABC shops) it is a convenience shop on every corner in Waikiki (LOL) which sells food, drinks, souviners etc. Also on the ground floor is Dollar Car Rentals, Hagendaaz ice cream. McDonalds is right next door if you want a cheap snack and Cheeseburger in Paradise on the other corner next door.

Overall the hotel is located in fantastic place and the rooms are reasonably spacious, clean and comfortable. Im not familiar with the ins/outs of the other 2 hotels you have mentioned so not sure how their pools/rooms etc rate.

Have a fantastic trip :-)

Why is the pool so important? Waikiki beach is so gorgeous. Normally on vacation we always consider the pool when making a hotel choice but never when we visit Waikiki. We just sunbathe on towels on the beach. If you take the pool out of your equation you will have more and probably cheaper hotel choices.

You%26#39;re threesome, right? Checked to see any condos yet? If not, see:

I may be wrong, but condos with swimming pools, located somewhere along Alawai Canal will look to be affordable. It can wait staying in a 5star hotel. Somewhere down the road, you WILL stay, though.

Aloha.

Aloha!

You could stay at the ResortQuest Waikiki Banyan which is a condo which would give you more space and a full kitchen. Plus, the property has a nice pool area with barbecues. You might want to check it out.

I always stay at the Queen Kapiolani. They have a small pool, but the view is awesome. A short walk to everything and a block from the beach. Have fun Aussie girls!

Thanks guys, advice is much appreciated!! :)

hi royal grove

Having been several times, I would tell you not to worry about a pool. Honestly. If I were you, I would invest in a rental car and go find some awesome beaches and ditch the pool. My best friend and I did this at Spring Break ~ and we did not regret it at all. So my advice, for what it is worth, is to rent that car and go introduce yourself to my personal favorite beach in all of Oahu ~ Lanaikai.

However, if your heart is SET on the pool idea, take a chance with Hotwire or Priceline and when you pick the Star rating, chose one with 3 stars or higher. We did this in September of 04 and ended up in the Radisson. The hotel was very nice. The pool was rooftop and small, but it did have a pool side bar.
