Hi,
This hotel came in the honeymoon package I booked from Singapore. I used mapquest to view whats around the hotel but could not even find anything intersting nearby. I dont even see a beach. Could someone pls advice on any interesting thing to do neaby the hotel or of there are any attractions nearby?
Thanks a lot
Pagoda Hotel Rycroft St
This hotel is outside the main tourist area Waikiki (it is about 2 to 3 km away); I would classify it as more in a residential neighborhood. You are correct to say that there%26#39;s not a lot close by since it is not in the middle of the Waikiki. However, about 4 blocks (0.5 km towards the ocean is Ala Moana Shopping Center (there%26#39;s a website for this shopping center) and beyond that is the Ala Moana Beach Park, which is a nice beach park and a lot less crowded than the beaches in Waikiki.
Ala Moana Shopping Center is a major bus hub so Pagoda Hotel is conveniently located if you do not have a car, and would like to take the bus everywhere.
The buffet restaurant at the Pagoda Hotel is actually quite good.

Thanks.
So, if I were to go to waikiki for a swim at the beach, which is the most convinient way? Do i need to take a bus?
How much would it cost roughly?
Are there lockers on the beach where I could place my towels, clothes etc?
Thanks
Yes, I would suggest taking a bus to Waikiki from Pagoda Hotel. Check out the bus website (www.thebus.org) for routes, timetables, and fares. Cost is $2 per person each way, but you can also get a 4 day ticket (unlimited rides) for $20 per person. The bus website has a visitor section that list attractions and how to get to them using the bus. Mostly the website tells you how to go to these attractions to and from Waikiki, but you will see quite a lot of the directions passes through Ala Moana Shopping Center.
I have not noticed lockers on the beach but maybe others can help with that.
Enjoy your honeymoon.
The beaches at Ala Moana Beach Park and at Hilton Hawaiian Village (in Waikiki) are about the same distance from Pagoda Hotel, about 6 blocks.
Here is a map that shows the location of Pagoda Hotel, Ala Moana Center, Ala Moana Beach Park %26amp; just across the bridge to Waikiki.

Most bus routes go to Ala Moana Center so you would almost have to walk the few blocks to catch the bus there (or get one near Pagoda %26amp; then have to transfer at ala Moana Center).
Lots to do on Oahu:

Here is a link that has bus routes to many of the attractions on Oahu. The link is for Waikiki, but most buses also go to or start at Ala Moana Center.
You can also get a map with all of the bus routes on Oahu. Availabale at many locations including ABC Stores.

You can also try to change the location of your hotel to one in Waikiki.
Er... the Pagoda Hotel on your honeymoon? Is it too late to change to a nice place? I would consider it even if you have to just pay for a second hotel! There%26#39;s not much good about the Pagoda except that it%26#39;s cheap. Well, the restaurant is ok too. Nearby there are stores and restaurants, and you can walk to Ala Moana shopping center and Ala Moana beach park.
Since no one has answer regarding the beach lockers...
Typically when I go to the beach I would carry an id card (such as driver%26#39;s license), credit card, hotel key, car key, and some cash in a water proof box or bag (example: Aqua Pac), which I wear around my neck while swimming or snorkeling. Then I have a beach bag that has straw mats, beach towers, suncreens, disposible camera, and beach reads, which I would just leave on the beach together with the clothes and slippers. The way I figure it if someone really is that desperate to take my used clothes and beach bag, then well, they can have them.
I have not taken any expensive cameras to the beach but Aqua Pac also sells waterproof camera bags if you would like to take your camera with you. According to the manufacturer, you can even use the camera underwater. I have not tested that out, but I do have an Aqua Pac for my cell phone, and true to the claim I can use the phone while it is sealed in the Aqua Pac. You can find Aqua Pac or other brands of water proof bag on the web. You can also find water proof boxes when you get to Honolulu at ABC Stores, Walmart, etc.
What! Pagoda hotel for your honeymoon. You got to be kidding me. That hotel location (right in the residential area) is so unromantic. My honest advice is to do whatever it takes to switch to a different hotel. Honeymoon is supposed to be a special moment in your life, and you wouldn%26#39;t want to let that crapy location to ruin it. I would rather pay little bit more to change it to another hotel in the center of Waikiki. Please do that.
