Hi
Can anyone offer advice on the Miramar. Sounds like this hotel is good value and not far from the beach but I am wondering if the traffic noise could be a problem as it appears to be on a busy road (we are light sleepers). Would we be better to pay a little more and look for something away from the high density area? Thanks for your help.
Should we consider Miramar Waikiki?
Aloha~
Traffic noise is a problem at most of the hotels in Waikiki since it is just a busy area. The Miramar is not on the main street (Kalakaua), but it is still in a busy area. Honestly the difference will come down to how sound-proof the room is, or what floor you will be staying on, but I think you should should choose the hotel based on other factors like amenities and ratings because traffic noise is an issue at most of them and not really definitive.
Should we consider Miramar Waikiki?
Thanks Canopyboy. I understand. I guess any noise factor will be a trade-off against positive features of the hotels. All the best.
we stayed at the Miramar back in February and would definitely consider staying there again in the future. after searching for the best compromise between price / location / reviews, etc, the Miramar won. i don%26#39;t remember traffic noise being an issue.
I walked through the lobby last year and couldn%26#39;t believe how grubby and dirty and ill kept it was, looked like barely a two star. I also noticed that the beach towels at the main desk were all ratty and bleached out the place seems to be really in need of some upgrading. We stayed at the Radisson Prince Kuhio. and shared our room with the biggest cockroaches we have ever seen also disappointing. Tthis year were at the Outrigger Reef hopefully it will be bettter. Good luck in finding a suitable place. The Reef used to be a four star and is going through some renovations but has some good pricing well be there in October...... Miramar is centrally located that is the best thing about it.

looking forward to our tenth visit.......

thanks guys for the advice . . . . . .
If you want peace and quite you%26#39;re best bet is to go Kauai.
If you%26#39;re intent on going to Waikiki; get a room at least 15 floors up. Stay away from hotels near the international marketplace. The noise from the partying around it goes on until about 2am. Then the trucks start unloading at 3am and beeping noise they make backing up is just wonderful.
i haven%26#39;t stayed at the miramar, however i am booked to stay there for 2 wks in january,i have done lots of research of the miramar and a few other hotels.from our travel agents info and all the reveiws i could find ,it seems like that the miramr is not that bad of a place,i think what it comes down to is the fancy frills or location, price etc.even the best of the best hotels had some crappy reviews.if you want to up to $400 a night and still risk ants, roachs, bad service, etc or pay alot less and risk the same.i think for first time visits to get to know the place it not a bad choice at all ,as long as you don%26#39;t have to say i am stayin g at the hilton or the marriort.,i hope it will be a good choice of us as well, please post your info when you return thanks
,
Pauhana and Jesy, many thanks. I will keep you posted. I do feel the Miramar will suit us. I appreciate your down-to-earth comments which are extremely helpful.
We stayed at The Miramar in August for 5 nights and it was fine...good compromise of price/cleanliness/distance to the beach etc.We would stay there again no worries.
Gazgolf1, thanks for your input. I have contacted the hotel with a couple of questions and they responded immediately (which is also a good sign) and gave me more information than I asked for.
