We are going to Hawaii from 3rd to 17th April next year, first 8 days on big island and then 6 at waikiki. We usually go in October and have just found out that April next year is spring break. What should we expect? Will it be much different? Will the crowds be noticeably bigger? Will there be a heap of teenage kids keeping us awake all night?
Thanks
Spring Break
anyone?
Spring Break
Oahu (Waikiki) - Comparable to any larger city. I think Honolulu is the 11th largest in the US (give or take). It%26#39;s definitely crowded. I tend to avoid Oahu when I can for that reason.
Big Island - A lot larger and while ';crowded'; in areas (Kona, Waimea, and Hilo) the majority of the island has very few people. The Big Island is a lot more laid back too. I personally believe the Kona side is a lot more like Waikiki (touristy, etc), just a lot smaller. I personally like Hilo on the other side of the island bc it, to me at least, represents the more true Hawaii.
Hawaii does not get spring break students in the numbers that other locations do. There are some that come here, but not enough more to make any difference.
There are also no big spring break parties here.
The beaches here tend to be more crowed when the students (all grades) here are on spring break. That is the last two weeks in March. University of Hawaii has their spring break also during that time.
Thanks for the info.
