We are trying to decide on a timeshare for Hawaii. We requested Marriott%26#39;s Ko Olina, but are having trouble getting it, so thought we%26#39;d add a second resort to our request with Interval. We have 6 people traveling, so we only have 3 other choices and have elimianted the Imperial Hawaii Resort because of several bad reviews. Anyone have any information or preference on these two choices: Hawaiian Princess at Mahaka Beach or Royal Aloha Vacation Club in Waikiki (Aloha Towers or Waikiki Skytower)? We%26#39;ve heard positive %26amp; negative about both. It%26#39;s not really important to us to stay in or near Honolulu %26amp; we%26#39;re not planning to spend much time on the beach near either hotel. We mostly want a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Hawaiian Princess @ Mahaka or RAVC in Waikiki?
I%26#39;d skip Makaha. The beach there is nice and fairly empty on weekdays--but you say you won%26#39;t be using it. The homeless have really taken over the beaches/parks on the entire West side making it even less of a tourist destination. Also, it is so far removed from everything else, it would eat up a lot of your time travelling to and from other things you go to see or do.

Definitely stay away from the Hawaiian Princess. The condos are owned by individuals, but managed by a day manager and security guards. While the beach is OK, the guards and management are extraordinarily rude. You pay a non-refundable cleaning fee for your rental, and then will forfeit your security deposit anyway if you don%26#39;t clean the rooms yourself when you leave (such as not emptying the trash or leaving food in the fridge). The owners are rude and know that you will be back on the mainland and can%26#39;t prove their claims. Read some of the other posts on the Hawaiian Princess...you will see a common theme of ';grumpy'; security and management. Couple that with the distance you have to drive to get anywhere, and you%26#39;ll avoid Makaha.
I also do not recommend Makaha. It is too far from most attractions. Crime is up in the area.
Ilikai Hotel has a lot of time shares that are fairly inexpensive.
Lots to do on Oahu:

Not sure if this post is too late but I wanted to share my thoughts. I have stayed at the Waikiki Skytower since 1979 and returning on October 7th next week. The building was built in 1976 I believe so it is now over 30 years old.....but with that said, the units are very nice. They are stocked with all the comforts of home...it%26#39;s a 4 minute walk to the beach and it is a very secure building.....need pass keys to enter the building and the parking area. You are assigned a parking space. I have stayed on the 14, 17, and 18th floors all with nice views. Hope this helps...if you would like to contact me directly my email address is vboydd@verizon.net
